at a White House press conference if the President really cared about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. At first President Bush embarrassingly laughed and then stated of course he cared. How easy it is to blame the Americans, when the real culprit is more the peace abstinent Israeli government. The WikiLeaks revelations didn't really introduce shocking news because these cables are variants of media reports throughout the years. All diplomats read the same media analysis we read, more or less, but of course we hope they have the more accurate knowledge. Also, it's interesting that there's emphasis on the Arab leaders "double-speak" regarding the contentious issues. Well, if Israel's own opposition is impotent in influencing the governing Israeli government's political stance, then why should one expect the Arab leaders to make the same demands on its anti-democratic opposition? It's not so simple in the Middle East as it takes decades for changes. The unresolved Israeli - Palestinian conflict is definitely a contributing threat to the region and globe. Islamic fundamentalism was perpetuated with the continuing conflict in the Holy Land and many analysts have stated this over the years - nothing new. These other things are the distractions to UNSCR's 242 and 338 which should serve as the basis for resolving the conflict.
