Though not uncommon this "evil desecration" has caught headline media coverage here in small New Zealand. The Catholic Church's condemnation predictably is pre-emptive to disassociate itself from unfortunate precedents in their own recent past. Unit 88 was a 1990s skinhead phenomena, opportunistic street thug vandalism, hopefully only a memory. The police probably through camera footage are on top of this. For prioritising this incident they are to be commended. The Maori are a case study of discrimination and are currently empathetic. The Palestinians would be the popular choice of university radicals of whatever colour. Hopefully this old anti-semitism will not become an issue. Having a PM who is ethnicly Jewish puts the whole situation into perspective. New Zealand's is not France.
