The White House has already said it does not want escalation. Hague has been even more open in his warning. The European papers keep harping that the crisis created by Israel is elections shinanigans - that is the kind of editorial that the average European is fed every day. But Netanyahu will never admit that (1) He has contrived this artificial crisis for the sake of electoral kudos, and (2) That when push comes to shove he takes his orders from the Oval Office. Admitting either of these two points will probably flush his political career down the toilette, so he is looking for a golden bridge which he hopes Morsi will come up with. If, in the case no golden bridge is found, he decides to invade, the consequences for him will be dire, and for Israel unpredictable. One thing is certain. If Israel invades, its relations with the West will change forever.
