There are some pro-Israeli Jews who say that there isn't apartheid, because what exists is not identical to what South Africa had. Apartheid means separation. You could say the US segregation regime in the South in the 1950s til the 1960s was America's version of apartheid at that time, and Israel's separation scheme in 2010 is Israel's segregationist, apartheid regime. No segregation regime in the world is identical to the other anymore than every democracy is identical. There are moderate Jewish and Arab voices who sorely would like peace, the embracing of confessional understanding over sectarianism and war.
