(Given that there is universal conscription, the merits of which we will not get into here.) If you're not cut out to be a fighter there's plenty of other stuff that you can do to render service to the state. The military needs secretaries, drivers, mechanics, laundry personnel, computer operators, cooks, researchers, writers, public relations people, plus a whole host of other services that can be provided by people of any religious persuasion. There's no good excuse for a physically able person not to serve her or his country. When push comes to shove, they like the protection that the military provides. They should give something back. Letting these fanatics call the shots is like putting the Amish in charge.
