"In 2006, Miriam Shear was slapped, kicked and punched by a group of Orthodox Jewish men" The fact that a group of men did this to a woman is despicable. The fact that a group of so called observant/religious men did this is absurd. Where in the Torah does it call for segregation in public spaces and where in the Torah is such abuse supported? Many of the Haredi are no better than extremists like Bin Laden. They have a medieval/narrow view of the world and hate/hurt anyone that does not march in step with their beat. Not to mention that many are complete leeches, taking from the State of Israel without giving anything constructive back. Not all are like this, as I know some very upstanding/good people of the Haredi fold, but there are many many who are ignorant, brutish/thugish, and hateful of anything that is not them.

from the article: Will Tanya Rosenblit’s stand lead to the desegregation of ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem?
