There will never be a resolution if people prefer to cherry-pick from history rather then moving on. - Comment - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

The Palestinians have rejected opportunities to achieve statehood because, in my opinion, they wanted a single bi-national state that would eliminate Israel as a homeland for Jews and not a 2-state solution. After the 67 war, Israel was entitled to involve itself in the West Bank to the extent of improving its security situation. Instead it allowed hundreds of thousands of people to live across the green line for extreme ideological reasons. After more then 40 years of occupation we have to move on. We have to accept that the West Bank Palestinian leadership has finally accepted that a 2-state solution is the best they can hope for and given up on their dream of achieving a single bi-national state.. In turn Israel must accept that it is no longer security considerations that dictate the occupation and that it is unacceptable to permit Israelis to live beyond the green line on the basis that they believe history and religion has apportioned it to Israel.
