There’s a great big elephant in the room. It’s called Hamas and Islamic Jihad. But everyone likes to overlook they actually exist. The Israelis are building illegal settlement. In order for Fatah to have any legitimacy on the Palestinian street... they need the settlements stopped. Hamas needs Gaza, Jerusalem and the entire West Bank. Islamic Jihad’s dreams of every single inch west of the Jordan river. At first glace, a UN resolution against Israeli settlements is advisable. But does it by itself, bring Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad closer to an agreement with Israel. Doesn’t a coalition of Palestinian factions need to exist... before a negotiated settlement can viable. What is a UN resolution worth... if Hamas and Islamic Jihad thinks it’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.
