As always Akiva Eldar says it as it is. He is absolutely right about Abu Mazen whose position is getting weaker by the day as a result of the Sharon government intransigent and its refusal to offer him any meaningful gesture to demonstrate to the Palestinian people that his way is actually working. Not a single check point has been removed and the news are awash with Israeli declerations about settlement expansion and provocative statments about how painful it is for Israelis to leave the Gaza Strip! . It is celar now that Sharon's speech at Sharm El Shiekh was merely lip service and the later is more concerned with his extreme right wing constituency than reaching peace with the Palestinians and Arabs.
