Down the drain so to say. Defending Islam is now an obligation the secular state of Turkey has taken upon itself (does Erdogan has to watch all day Atatürks portrait at the wall of his presidential room, I wonder). The good news: Turks will become less schizo when it comes to being a Muslim and the role of Islam in politics (for a good Muslim Islam demands active engagement in politics I understand) and might even find a much needed balance between the civil rights, democacry and transparancy of a modern nation and Islam. Turkey is the best hope when it comes to the so needed birth of a succesfull and progressing modern Muslim nation, democratic, transparent, under the rule of Law equal to everybody. And Atatürks experiment was forced on the people, just like Stalin's comrades-society was. These 'solutions' do not work in the long run. And don't mention the Euro please.

Why the Jewish establishment won’t condemn the occupation

Unless more U.S. Jews who oppose the occupation become members of established Jewish organizations and donate money, the establishment is unlikely to heed calls of those who want it to condemn the occupation.
