The "international assault against Israel" will not entirely be the making of the PA. It owes a lot to the changing mental frame of the world’s population, specially in the Western democracies and the emerging progressive countries. Much credit should go to the peace movements and the human rights organizations, and to the enlightened example set down by professionals in the creative fields of art, literature, music, and performance. They have given an ideological content to this change. Governments have been responsive, and are beginning to hold themselves to much higher moral standards than even ten years ago. Understandably, Palestinians and Israelis when they deal with each other show themselves to be lagging behind this international trend. Generations of enmity has distorted their view of each other. But wiser counsel is taking over, and we can reasonably look forward to celebrating a new era of relationship before long.
