“We repeat that we are ready for negotiations with no conditions even early tomorrow morning,” the Israel envoy said. That is a total lie of course, Israel has more absolute preconditions than you can shake a stick at. The elements they are 100% intransigent on and will not discuss include: 1. No Right of Return to Israel for the refugees they forced out in 1948 2. No financial compensation for refugees for homes, land and businesses lost under Plan Dalet 3. No freeze on settlement building 4. No acceptance of the Green Line as the starting-point for the boundary 5. No return of East Jerusalem to Palestine 6. No return of Palestinian land to the west of the so-called security barrier 7. No vacating of Ariel, Ma'ale Adumim and the other settlement fingers that disrupt Pal communications 8. No withdrawal of the IDF or Jewish settlements from the Jordan Valley 9. Palestine to be demilitarised while Israel is not 10. Israel to have full control of Palestinian airspace, even though it is a complete infringement of sovereignty 11. No change in the division of water from the Palestinian aquifers, of which Israel takes more than two-thirds 12. And of course the latest one, no agreement unless Palestine recognises Israel as an ethnic/religious state, which even Israeli citizens don't. There are not things the Israelis don't want to discuss, they are things that they WON'T discuss or negotiate under any circumstances. Given that they won't table a map and refuse to commit to vacating Areas B and C, the question Prosor and his like need to answer is simple: is there even ONE simple thing of any substance that Israel is actually prepared to negotiate on? Prosor knows full well that the answer is a big round zero, which makes him the latest in a long line of barefaced Israeli government liars and hoodwinkers.
