The US will look pretty stupid if we allow Iran to develop the ability to produce a nuclear bomb even though they already have at least an unusable large bomb made by Pakistan. Israel has nothing to fear from Iran since the US would look even more stupid on this issue than it does now if Iran succeeds in achieving a nuclear bomb capability despite the US's ultrastrong position on no more nuclear bomb nations. In any case if Iran succeeded it would be only for show. Neither Iran nor N. Korea would ever use a nuclear bomb on another nation and survive. It would be suicidal. The successful use of an Iranian nuclear bomb on Israel eithr by missile or sneaking it into Israel would very seriously hurt Israel but would lead to the complete destruction of Iran and the death of tens of millions of Iranians. What the US should do now is make a demonstration of a nuclear bomb on a remote, unihabited part of Iran and wake up the Iranian people to what may be in store for them if they allow their leadership to go forward with their insane plan. Iran is paying a heck of a price for a nuclear bomb program that is going nowhere even if it succeeds and will bring them nothing but grief. Haaretz would do well rto write on what Iran gains by success in its program and what it loses.
