There seems to be a new consensus in the White House. It's as if, the US has taken a different tone... and a more precise focus. You can sense it in Secretary Clinton's words. It's a realization that Syria and Iran contribute to instability. Through state sponsored influence and illicit smuggling which sparks extremism in the region. In the coming months, the west will need to consider the space between military action and sanctions... as a viable option. Maybe along the lines of a de-facto naval blockade or some kind of military containment. I suspect Tehran and Damascus, as belligerent as they both are today... are in for a rude awakening.
