Mr. Sarid's comments frighteningly ring true. In my view this is a clear case of war of survival. For the state (of Israel) to survive, it must realize the existential threats that this hostile group presents. I suppose one needs no more than a little imagination to simulate 60 years forward, when this group could potentially consist of 40 percent of the Jewish population with a derived risk.
