"Born in Haifa, Livnat is the only member of Knesset not to have a secondary education. She barely made ends meet working in advertising and had to rely on financial handouts from her parents." - Wikipedia// Consider the following passage in a D. Rosenblum article: "as far as is known the only strong attachment the minister [Livnat] has to (a kind of) 'culture'", or in a recent editorial: "The Zionist Art Award, another Livnat invention, demonstrates her lack of culture. By her criteria, the works of Amos Oz, David Grossman, Meir Wieseltier and Sami Michael are undeserving of an award." There is contempt in these passages, the kind one usually tries to hide. I think it is because of Livnat's lack of education, followed by extreme right-wingerism (which often goes together with lack of thinking rationally). Strangely, her poor background did not stop Livnat from becoming Minister of Education under Sharon, when she was able to lower Israeli students' achievements as measured by international tests. Good job, Limor, and perhaps you will do to culture what you did to education.
