This has always been the dark secret of the Reform movement - it is very, very profitable (but almost exclusively for those who call themselves "rabbis"). Reform in Israel has no popularity, even among the non-Orthodox. Reform "rabbis" in Israel have no flock to serve. Nevertheless, greedy Reform people like Gilad Kariv scream incessantly about getting public funding. Listen to most everything Kariv has said in the past few years and you'll see it quite clearly. It's all about money and has nothing to do with religion nor religious freedom. Oh, in the USA, Reform "rabbis" are the most overpaid and underworked, compared to C and O. The NYT made a detailed report on this years ago. And they can't deny this.
