The Palestinian security prisoners are "Freedom Fighters" in the eyes of their people and rightly so. Such prisoners are all let go when a peace deal is struck. Just look at historical examples such as the recent IRA-British deal. In the meantime, the life of an Israeli soldier is saved. We are really talking about his LIFE, because if Hamas comes to believe that he will not be exchanged, they will end up killing him. From this, one can conclude that the deal is worthwhile. On the other hand, the annexationists and peace-rejectionists may turn it into a bad deal by prolonging the current no-peace situation, so the released killers have the motivation to kill again, and the kidnappers have the motivation to kidnap again. Note that each side in the Israeli public debate remains consistent with its long-term vision of the conflict with the Palestinians.
