What Abbas must focus on is borders. If Israel keeps to one side of a negotiated border, that should be viewed as a significant voctory. Whatever Israel declares itself to be should be viewed as irrelevant. It is not unreasonable to assume that the state of Palestine would also enact a policy of removal of all settlers from territory ceded to the new state. This is primarily because settlers have proven willing to use violence to badger and resist their own Israeli government. This is indicative of future behavior that would constantly require IDF incursions into Palestine to defend them and their interests, thus rendering any border meaningless. -And that is their plan.
