For Israel there's always a reason to maintain the occupation and its usually to do with how hard it is to end it. This difficulty has more to do with Israel's desire to continue the dispossession process than the complexities of dismantling the occupation. If Israel had any desire to end their institutionalised supremecism they wouldn't be planning new suburbs and major infrastructure on Palestinian occupied territory. Israel is blatantly working towards relinquishing Gaza and annexing all Jerusalem, a blind three-legged donkey can tell that. The result of Israel's inexorable greed will be a binational state, eventually with a Palestinian majority. It's the ultimate Zionist nightmare but the inevitable outcome.
