    we'll never know of course, but it's very likely that had rabin disabused himself in 1994, in the aftermath of the golsdtein massacre of the falshood that the territories and settlements were strategic assets and acted swiftly to end the hebron settlements followed by the rest of the west bank settlements, he would have been backed up by the majority of israelis and his assassination never would have happened. the hard right, including sharon and nentanyahu who incied against him to the backdrop of signs calling for his murder probably wouldn't have dared to be so blatant had he acted then and had the support of most israelis. labor politicians never understood that if they acted with courage, determination and conviction they would have gained the support of the majority of the israelis have been sick and tired of the occupation and settlements since the october 73 war. instead, rabin presided over an increase in settlement activity during the oslo process which contributed greatly to the increase in palestinian islamic terrorism activities and the inability of the nascent palestinian authority to combat it. in that sense he engaged in foolish and cowardly policies although he personally wasn't a coward at all, unlike netanyahu.
