"Orphaned"implies the loss of a parent, thereby invoking sympathy. The dismal state of affairs of the so-called left is not due to the demise or assassination of its leaders. Some of the writers of the talkbacks are more perceptive and perhaps more truthful, than is Levy. To portray the left as the sole advocate of human rights, opposing violence against women,;liberalism and humanism were not created by the left. The ninety per cent of the population who disagree with you are fed up wth the arrogance of the left and the continuous disparagement of their views, day after day in the media. The constant portrayal of your opposition as blind idiots and fools who bungle nearly everything they do,does not win you any brownie points. To quote a plebian philosopher: shit does not just happen: there is usually nearby an asshole..
