It's much more likely that it was the Syrian representative who made the mistake of telling the truth. He was so angry with Israel that he forgot for a moment that he was supposed to be keeping a secret. Afterwards he panicked and tried to put the blame on a professional interpreter. How was he able to get away with it? That's UN corruption for you.
