What you do not understand is that Observant Jews ask questions from to time on issues they encounter in their daily lives, and Halachic authorities search through the the decisions of the past rabbiinical authorities, as ... any other legal authroiiities in civil law do when a matter of law comes to them. THAT IS JUDAISM! That you don't know this is doesn't not make you ignorant , or foolish, you are not trained in Jewish Jursprudence to the level that you understand it to the extent that you can deal with it ntelligently. It is also true there are Observant Jews who, like many other so-called, self-appointed legal experts in Civil Law, offer opinions that are shot from the hip, and lack the depth requred to understand the issue at hand. So ... the next time you have a Jewish Legal problem, go to a rabbi who is regarded as an expert, rather than "read some book" that may disinform you. Zev
