Many countries in the world are interested in connections with Israel because they believe that Israel can "deliver" the US due to Jewish influence there. The Turks also demand Israeli help in this way. It seems that so far Israel did deliver the service, because Jewish organizations were reluctant to push for the US to recognize the Armenian genocide. This would normally be out of character for groups so adamant about pushing for Holocaust awareness. The Jewish excuse so far was that they feared the effect on the Turkish Jewish community. Give me a break; Turkey is trying to get into the EU and there is not going to be any pogrom in Turkey. The true reason of course was the Turkey-Israel relationship, and Israel must have explained the issue very well to the Jewish organizations. As an Israeli, and recognizing the importance of friendly relations with Turkey when we both have issues with the unfriendly countries of Syria and Iran, I will not push for Israel to change its position now. And given world terror today and US needs in the ME, Turkey is too valued an ally of the US to offend today. The group which should speak to Turkey is the EU. They should tell them that the time has arrived to find out what the truth is, and if necessary admit to the crimes and do something about it. Perhaps their old allies, the Germans, should speak to the Turks about genocide.
