If this same column was on jpost.com or yehodiot there would be hundreds of posts calling Amir Oren a self hating Jew and enemy of the State of Israel just as hundreds of posters shamefully called the former head of the Mossad, Meir Dagan, a self hating Jew for voicing the same objections. In Israel today the right wing is in love with two things: the current right wing government of Israel that can do no wrong, and with military solutions. Perhaps these same folks forgot how well the Israeli army did in taking on Hezbollah in the summer of 2006. It fought the 1,000 man guerilla army of Hezbollah to a standstill. Right now Syria would like nothing better than a major distraction to turn the attention of the world and its people about from its brutal oppression of its own people to attacking Israel, and for all those who crave war, Iran is no Hezbollah. Israel will be subject to ballistic missile attacks on its cities and attacks on its embassies worldwide and untold terrorism. Sanctions, the stuxnet virus, and the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists IS working. Bombing Iran will cost the lives of thousands of innocent Israelis and the war hungry right wingers need to be held in check. Wars do not always go the way the planners want and too many people will lose their lives. Bombing Iran will bring Israel a catastrophe and must be avoided. There are other ways to stop Iran's march to nuclear weapons. Power does not always come from a gun or a bomb dropped from a plane.
