It's important in this day and age, to be consistent. Making claims to be a modern democracy functioning in 2011, does not sit well with abstract claims based on a 4,000 year old emotional relationship. Resorting to the "historical claim" over territories is a dead-end and a fundamental fallacy. It's clear that the two peoples have learned to accept that they're stuck together for better or worse, they're already doing business on every level. But treating the Palestinians like second-class citizens in their own country will never yield results now matter how much money is used to "bribe" them. It only corrupts and confuses them.
