As in his usual way , Gideon has had another vision and feels compel to give " sermon from the Mountain Top",Gideon would like you to believe that his main motivation in urging (Journalist?) the Politicians to behave according to his Karma is the good of the country" , and that of the people. Thus, if we were just reading his current article in discussion, we would come to the conclusion that the guy belongs to a humanist-reformist tradition, unicombred of any ideology, the form of Prud'hom and the great social reformist. However, since we know his track record, and his real motives, we cannot allow ourselves to read his writing, justifiably so, without suspecting that the guy is full of hot air. He has no legitimacy to speak on behalf of the readership of Haaretz (after all , is he not preaching to the Choir, no?!),or to any other audience. Gideon never understood the pure economics impulses of what has and is transpiring in the interactions in Israel by allowing workers to participate in the production and dignity of providing their families, for the education of their children, by making possible for them( European, Romanian, Yugoslav, who rush to come here, as well as allowing Palistinians whose earnings allow them to live a comfortable and dignify productive lives in their own environment). Look at the Chineese and Indian miracles..Had we not read enough of anti Israeli venoms from the pen of Gideon, we would give some credance to his comments. But, we all are aware for his biases, and inflexible temperament to see everything right on the other side and a whole lot of wrongs on the Israeli side. He should be decent to his"profession" and try and describe the reality as it is on the surface, and not get to the "Mountain Top", and becomes delirious.
