As a Palestinian Jerusalemite I have a completely different perspective on the status of Jerusalem. We the Palestinians, never really bought into the Israeli propaganda that the city is united and that it will remain the undivided eternal capital of Israel. To us the city has always been divided in to East and West, Arab and Jewish and we never felt that we live in a united city even if there are no obvious physical barriers. Consecutive Israeli government and muncipal authorities including mayors have made sure that the Arab part always remained under funded, undeveloped and lacking in necessary infrastructure while resources have been pouring into the Jewish part of the city including the illegal settlements built since 1967. The division of the city has been consolidated by Israel?s obsession of remaining exclusively Jewish.
