The reality since 1948 has been that Israel exists, it is not going away, and no nation has since 1973 been willing to risk destruction to destroy Israel. Since the Yom Kippur War the ONLY question has been how much of the Palestine Mandate would Israel become. Israel has been for the last 30 years under control of people who have the objective of taking all of the Occupied Territories as part of Israel. Eventually Ariel Sharon admitted that the cost of taking Gaza would be to high and he abandoned the effort to concentrate Israel's efforts upon taking all of the West Bank. Get REAL folks, of BOTH sides. Israel is not going to disappear and Israel will (I hope) never pay the cost of ridding the region of Arabs. Are the Arabs capable of expunging Israel? No. Will Israel exterminate the Palestinians? I hope not. Thus the REALITY is that ONLY a two-state solution can solve the dilemma both sides confront. Yet Netanyahu and Lieberman both reject any two state solution. Will Israel ever accept reality and reject Greater Israel and embrace peace?

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
