Hebron is an ancient Capital of Israel, so not only is it a religious centre, but also a political one. This double whammy of religion and National history are a threat to the marxist worldview, which denies both. Now, ironicaly, the arabs also hold Hebron as s Holy city, precisely for the same reasons as the Jews do. It is perhaps more comparable to British teenagers going to stonehenge than to visit auschwitz.
