    The real question is whether the US has sufficient influence to assure anything. The Bush administration has been spectacularly unsuccessful in influencing Israel in any issue important to Palestinians, except maybe for getting Israel to sit in the same room with them together. The Bush administration has been spectacularly unsucessful in any issue important to Israelis, except maybe for getting a near irreconcilable division between the West Bank and Gazan Palestinians.
