Freedom fighters do not question the existence of other sovereign states. Yet Hezbollah has stated that there is no solution to the conflict in the ME except through the disappearance of Israel. Nasrallah stated: I am against any reconciliation with Israel. I do not even recognize the presence of a state that is called Israel.[Washington Post, February 20, 2000]. Freedom fighters do not act as proxies of foreign governments. Yet Hezbollah has acted as a proxy of Syria and Iran within the state of Lebanon. Nor does Hezbollah act for the interests of the people of Lebanon, but for its own selfish sectarian interests. All of its actions against Israel after Israel withdrew entirely from Lebanon in 2000, were against the general interest of the Lebanese people, the sobereignty of the state of Lebanon, in violation of the sovereignty of Israel, and in violation of all international norms. All these acts are committed with the permission of the "jurisprudent," the top Shia cleric in Iran.
