The Range of Artillery has dominated the definition of both 'defensible borders' and 'costal waters' for hundreds of years. What determined the defensible borders of Israel in 1949 became the armistice lines - the point where Israelis welcomed peace with Arabs suing for peace. The term 'defensible borders' became redefined in the 1960s when Syrian artillery rained terror upon Israelis from the Golan. It became redefined when Israelis had pushed the Jordanian Army out of range of Israel. It became redefined as Israelis moved back into range of Jordanian Artillery. It finally became utterly redefined when NOWHERE in Israel was beyond the range of enemy rockets by 1991. Israel has not and can NEVER have 'defensible borders.' Technology has evolved to the point where NOWHERE in Israel can be safe without peace.
