The problem with halakha is that there is no mechanism to change it, no matter how bad or how unjust it has become given changing circumstances or times. The rules governing marriage is one example, the rules governing divorce is another. The "get" has to go. It was put in place in ancient times when women were viewed as property by men. Today, this concept is an anathema to the civilized western world. It should not be tolerated by anyone who supports women's rights.
