For a brief time following world war 2, America was in charge of the world. After Russia formed the Soviet Union and gained a nuclear arsenal, America was left in charge of half the world. After the Soviet Union fell apart and the EU formed, America was left in charge of one quarter of the world, with part of that one quarter being the mideast. Are you beginning to see a trend? The problem is that some Americans (and their proxies) still think that America is in charge of the world. Even if the part of the world under Americas patronage toes the line drawn by Israel on the Iran issue, most of the world is still available to Iran for support. To make things even better for Iran, the part of the world they can turn to for support is the part that's growing, and not the part that's shrinking.
