In fact IQ tests are built on two levels: Language-related thinking on the one hand and action-related thinking on the other. The first is considered to be the more stable factor which decides the success in school. This is the problem when testing children from immigrant neighborhoods: The verbal abilities are under-developed and so the children score much lower than those growing up in an environment where academic Hebrew is spoken at home/in kindergarten/school. This has nothing to do with racism. It is so everywhere in the world where IQ-tests relying on verbal abilities are used. One should update the Kaufman test or develop tests for gifted visual spatial learners. I recommend the film 'Ha Kochavim shel Shlomi'
