hatred, intolerance and bloodshed are woven into the fabric of our sacred mythology - Moses and the Levites slaughtering the secular Israelis for having a good old time at the golden calf, Pinchas being rewarded priesthood for slaying the prince who slept with a midianite, dude being killed for picking up a stick on shabbas, and all sorts of other no-fun garbage. Sure it sucks but if you are Jewish and actually profess to believe in the Torah then you are sort of stuck with it. Not sure what to say really. I tried to do 'Teshuva' and I only ended up worse off and more morally confused than when I began. I think the 10 commandmants are good and I like the idea of a laid back shabbas meal and a cup of wine but other than that I am direly confused as to what to think of this tradition I am supposed to embody.
