Israels main problem is that those they kill and victimize are mostly not the ones that committed offenses against Israel. If Hamas rules Gaza, then they will be the last ones affected by "shortages". Killing over a thousand Palestinians during the Gaza op did not have any effect on Hamas. I suppose the theory is that, if Israel attacks civilians in response to a Hamas attack on Israel, then those civilian victims of Israel will prevail upon Hamas not to attack Israel anymore. In reality, Hamas has benefitted from Israels attacks on the civilians population. Israels mindset seems to be "Arab attacks us. We attack Arab". There is no distinction between militant and civilians. This has derailed Israels deterrence, gained Israel international condemnation, and led to the strengthening of Hamas. The worst thing, and you can see it here in talkback, is that Israelis support treating ALL the Palestinians as though they are terrorists even though the actual percentage of Hamas members is about one percent of the population.

Why is it hard to fall in love, and even harder to sustain it?
