A lot of people are going to see the "new position" as just a slight adaptation, designed to avoid taking a new position and to maintain the status quo. It's foolish to ignore that the competing side has vastly more power and resources than it had a short time ago. If Netanyahu wants to use speeches about "bold steps" to avoid actually taking bold steps, Israel (and the U.S.) are going to be rapidly marginalized. Its a time for action. The cleverness and deception must take a back seat briefly.
