It was their rejection of the UN Partition plan of 29 Nov. 1947, their resort to violence starting the next day, which increased until May 15, 1948, when 5Arab countries invaded Israel -in short, Arab rejectionism and violence - that caused the nakba. When leaders of a people start a war, the people invariably suffer. Similarly, it was the aggression of Nazi Germany in World War II that led to the expulsion of ethnic Germans from Sudetenland and along the Volga. Nobody, including Germany, suggests returning.the German refugees to the Sudetenland or the Volga. And so, the Palestinians have to get used to the fact that their nakba is the result of their own actions. Until they do this, there will be no peace. .
