There is zero religious and cultural affinity between the Sephardi/Mizrahi majority in Israel where there really is no real secular religious divide and this movement. Even the most non-observant Sephardi/Mizrahi respect their Rabbi’s and their Torah Scholars and their Mekubalim. Add the Haredim, The Dati Leumi, The Orthodox and modern Orthodox Askenazim and the pool available to the non-orthodox in Israel is quite limited.
