I have no objection to the idea of an oath of loyalty to a jewish and democratic state but jews should be required to make this oath as well. Although theoretically jews don't need to swear any oaths because they are jewish and that gives them an automatic right to become Israeli citizens whilst non jews must apply and can be refused. Jews though should swear this oath of loyalty even if its just to remind these jews but whilst they have a right to be here Israel is their new home now and they should swear an oath of loyalty to it. I cannot see any just reason why jews should not be forced to swear this loyalty oath and it was a mistake to make this bill apply to non jews only from the start. Thats one of the things that made it so contrversial.
