Haaretz zeroes in on a situation that weakens the legitimacy of the application of law in Israel. At this moment, one hundred and twenty Palestinian administrative detainees are on hunger strike and have been for more that a month. Many are hospitalized. Most international and local media choose silence over this issue. Under Israeli law, a person can be arrested and detained in administrative limbo for months and years, without knowing the charges against him or her. It is a great waste and abuse of human energy, not to mention money and time. All administrative detainees should either be brought to trial or released without further delay.
