Step back a moment. Perhaps we zero in too quickly--pointing fingers at specific groups, at right or left, etc.--without considering a possible common-denominator of the violence-prone. Could it be those who are strongly "mission-driven?" Those who see the end as justifying any means? The "Terror" in the French Revolution came from the left, remember. Individuals or groups on a "mission"--any mission--seem to have a heightened ability to rationalize away otherwise socially-unacceptable acts. Nothing new of course; past and present history is full of chilling examples.
