It is strange to hear people refer to "the mideast peace process" as if it was a real thing, like a houseplant, which needs care and watering, light and warmth. There really is no peace process. Israel is busy expanding settlements faster than ever before and the Palestinians are getting on with their lives, having lived through decades of fake "peace processes" which Israel has taken to the bank. The Palestinians won't participate in peace fakery as long as Israel is so obsessed with settlement expansion that they can't take a break, and Israel is only interested in speeding up expansion, not pausing or even slowing. This means there is no peace process and there is not likely to be a peace process. Even if there were a peace process it would actually be peace fakery. Israel is not anxious to withdraw tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of settlers from the west bank. Israel doesn't want a two state solution or a one state solution. They will do their best to avoid both these outcomes. Both the Russians and the Nazis made more than five million people disappear from the earth. This is Israel's goal. With American backing, who knows? Any road leading to peace should not be scorned.
