Akiva Eldar is enjoying the safety of his home when he criticizes the policies of those who are charged with protecting it. I am sure that had he been living in the town of Shderot his writing would have carried a different flavor. He would have complained that cutting off electricity is not enough. He would have insisted on doing all it takes to stop the barrage of the Qassams even if it called for collective punishment. Criticism is easy when you are not in charge, especially when every action carries plenty of unwanted offshoots. What would you do, Mr Eldar, when treating this cancer makes your hair fall off? Would you stop the treatment or criticize the side effects?
