"The Jews in the U.S. who are worried about the future of ties to Israel should ask themselves . . . " - Amiram Barkat They should ask themselves why the Israel of the last three decades has been so opposed to the morality and goals they have. I believe that most American Jews - and in all fairness, I am not one, I am simply a friend of Israel and Jews - do not feel comfortable with the dream of "greater Israel" or the goal of ridding Israel of Arabs. American Jews have seen the end of any real discrimination since World War II. They have a hard time associating with the very real discrimination which made Zionism necessary. Please excuse them if they do not see the promotion of their very natural enemies, the religious right which wishes to see Judaism destroyed by the second coming of Christ, as a benefit.
