The problem is that these are no longer the most painless ways to slaughter, and as a result the methods no longer coincides with the intent and religious edict (which is to cause the least amount of pain and distress, rather than focus on a technique). it is time to embrace technology and forgo tradition (mechanics) so that the religious edict and the spirit of things is actually kept.
