I totally rejected the idea of owning a TV in Israel when after making aliyah and visiting friends I saw that "Baywatch" was on. Of course, Israelis pay for government TV on two levels. As taxpayers and as members of a society held hostage by unelected officials "deciding facts" for us. Let them fund their brain washing attempts via commercial revenues and more competition please. Someday TV may actually become something that enhances peoples lives here and not just another way of bilking the public by a few select families and their sycophants.
